Callaway Gardens has a Country Store. A stone building dating from the 1950’s with a lively interior vibe. Across the street is a fairly large parking area with a starting point to The Pine Mountain Trail. The view from here is amazing. A foretaste of what Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park offers: nature and scenic views.
For those of you unfamiliar with Callaway Gardens, it is a pretty big deal in Pine Mountain, Georgia. As many as 750,000 people visit annually. Mostly for me, Callaway Gardens brings to mind their Christmas “Fantasy in Lights” event, butterfly house, and exotic flowers. Callaway Gardens and Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park neighbor each other.
