I recently had a TMJ (temporomandibular joint) device planted on the bottom of my teeth. Adjusting to this new instrument is taking time. Frankly, I am only a few days in as of writing this post. Fruit and vegetable juices and smoothies are my new best friends.

One morning I wanted something sweet and filling for breakfast. Looking around the kitchen, I found Garden of Life Vanilla Spiced Chai Protein Powder Packets*. Most protein powders taste better with a juice of some sort. Scanning the refrigerator, a few fruit based ideas came to mind. Apple juice sounded like a good blend, especially considering the autumn season mixed with chai. Pineapple seemed a little out there, but experimenting with whole foods never really hurt anyone. The result was delicious enough to share.

Vanilla Chai Pineapple Protein Drink

  • Servings: makes one serving
  • Difficulty: super easy

Sweet autumn flavors abound in this quick and easy to make protein drink.

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 c. water
  2. 1/3 c. apple juice
  3. 3-4 one inch chunks of pineapple
  4. 4 ice cubes
  5. 1 packet of Garden of Life Vanilla Spiced Chai Protein Powder packet

Directions

  • In a high speed blender, add all ingredients except ice and blend on high until the consistency of juice forms and all pineapple chunks are liquefied.
  • Add ice and incorporate until ice is fully blended to create a chilled drink. Pour and enjoy!

*Note: If drink is lying around once made too long without being consumed, may need to blend again for best results.
